Forest County Potawatomi LibraryGeneral Info The Forest County Potawatomi Library is a tribally-owned and operated public library. Our collection focuses exclusively on Native Studies, with an emphasis on the Potawatomi Nation and the tribes of the Great Lakes region. We also have a non-circulating research library which consists of reference materials and a rare book collection. We are located in the upper level of the Museum building. Hours of Operation The library is open Monday through Friday 8a.m.-4:30p.m. If you have special research needs or want to inquire about our collection, please call 715-478-4841. Circulation Policy Books and CD's are loaned for four weeks and may be renewed twice by phone/e-mail. (Total borrowing time of 3 months.) Videos and DVD's are loaned for one week. Educational titles are free. Entertainment titles are $3 per week. Movies may be renewed twice by phone/e-mail, but the borrower will incur the additional weekly charge for entertainment titles. (Total borrowing time of 3 weeks.) Bio Kimberly Wensaut is an enrolled member of the Forest County Potawatomi. She holds an M.A. in English Literature and a B.A. in American Indian Studies. Her interests include writing and the preservation and continuance of the Potawatomi language. Working alongside Jim Thunder Sr., they published three sets of language booklets/tapes. Kim is a published poet with writing appearing in the anthology Sister Nations (MN Historical Society Press) and other publications. She previously worked as a freelance journalist in Minnesota and Michigan and was the founding Editor of the Potawatomi Traveling Times in 1995. |
